Thousands will be up in Big Bear Lake, California showing off their emergency capabilities on June 23, 2007.  If you would like to learn more about Ham Radios and the Amateur Radio Service, come on up to Big Bear and visit the Chatuaqua High School, June 23-24.

Big Bear City, CA is dedicated to creating defensible space to make sure fire hazards are kept to a minimum.  To help all home owners, the Big Bear City Fire Department is holding a Chipper Block Party June 25-29, 2007.  If you pile your tree trimmings and branches by the road in front of your property a ‘chipper’ truck will come by and chip your vegetation at the curb.

Two continued problems, the prolonged drought and the bark beetle infestation, have made it incredibly important that dead or dying trees be removed.
Any dead or live ‘fuel’ (branches or vegetation) around your property needs to be ‘chipped’ by June 25, 2007. After that date, no vegetation will be allowed curbside.
